Meet the Team
-
Born and raised in the vibrant city of Vancouver, I embarked on my journey in the travel industry in 2000. With a passion for exploring new cultures and destinations, I've had the privilege of traveling to 30 countries to date, each trip broadening my horizons and deepening my appreciation for the world.
I started my career at Flight Centre, where I was honored as the #1 Sales Consultant and Top Novice in 2001. I moved over to Corporate Traveller from 2001 to 2003, gaining extensive experience in corporate travel planning. I also helped launch Flight Centre's ICE (InTravel, Conferences & Events) brand in 2004, before the travel bug took over and I hit the road to teach EFL.
After spending four exhilarating years traveling and teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL) in diverse countries such as Indonesia, Turkey, Russia, and Ukraine, I made Calgary my home in 2009. Teaching EFL gave me intimate access to the daily lives of those I taught, allowing me to learn their cultures as an insider and enriching my global perspective in a unique way.
I joined Travel Edge Canada in August 2021 to start my business, PLAN A Travel Solutions, focusing on private travel planning services and dedicating myself to curating personalized and seamless travel experiences. I specialize in custom travel arrangements with white glove service, ensuring that every detail is meticulously planned and executed to provide exceptional experiences.
What drives me as a traveler? In a nutshell - the chance for immersive learning… Learning that tickles the senses with something new, yet recalls within us, that feeling of wonder we had as a child…
My range of travel-related experiences - from backpacking through South America to teaching English in Eastern Europe & Southeast Asia, to custom luxury adventures the world over, has given me insight into how to help make YOUR travel goals a reality.
When I’m on an adventure, I’m most interested in tantalizing street food, ancient archeological sites, getting to know the local people and their culture & the chance to photograph lush or desert landscapes. I like experiencing things in a place no one else has, and that lends itself to the kind of planning I can do for you.
While I do use many well known suppliers, I also engage with lesser known in-country destination management operators where it makes sense. One of the benefits to working with these companies is they employ locals, keeping your travel dollars in the country you’re exploring. For authentic travel experiences, there’s no better guide than going direct to the source.
Let me help you go on YOUR adventure!
PLAN A travel solutions is my answer to a growing need for customized travel plans, professional & consistent concierge-level service & where client loyalty is rewarded.
My name is AJAY KARAH & I am a Certified Travel Counsellor, accredited thru ACTA, with visits to 30 countries under my belt and over 2 decades of experience advising travelers…

Private Travel Planner · Cruise & Custom Itinerary Specialist · ACTA Member · TICO Certified
I’m Robert Altman — a Toronto-born, Kawartha Lakes-based travel planner with a passion for helping clients explore the world with ease and intention. Whether you're craving total relaxation or a deeper connection to the places you visit, I’ll help you plan a trip that reflects your style, pace, and priorities.
I specialize in cruise travel — ocean, river, expedition, and small-ship yachting — but I also offer full-service trip planning for land-based travel, resorts, rail journeys, and immersive cultural experiences. From a quick winter escape to a once-in-a-lifetime voyage, I’m here to make the planning seamless and the experience unforgettable.
Before working in travel, I spent more than a decade in strategic consulting and stakeholder engagement. That background trained me to listen closely, manage details carefully, and create tailored solutions — skills I now bring to every trip I design.
I have a special love for geography — not just maps and borders, but the ways land, water, culture, and people interact. Travel brings this to life in vivid ways:
Physical geography – think glaciers, volcanoes, rivers, and coastlines
Cultural geography – where languages, architecture, and cuisine are shaped by place
Environmental geography – understanding our impact as travelers
Human geography – how people live, move, and build community across the globe
You don’t have to be a geography buff to enjoy your trip — but if you are, we’ll have a lot to talk about. And if you just want somewhere sunny with good food and zero stress, I can make that happen too.
As a TICO-certified advisor and ACTA member, I bring professionalism, transparency, and trusted support to every client relationship. Whether you're planning your first cruise or your fifteenth custom journey, I'm here to guide the way.
